RAAF Base, Amberley Relocation of Headquarters 6th Engineer Support Regiment, Brisbane

Paynter Dixon was commissioned to construct two new headquarter office buildings and a civil construction training area for the RAAFs 6th Engineers Support Regiment. External designs were scrutinised and amended prior to building, preventing potential cost and time blowouts, while still ensuring a strong focus on maximising sustainable design features and integrating all technical facilities.

The new sleek, modern headquarters included solar hot water, solar system for power generation, light sensors, natural ventilation modes for air conditioning systems and windows that can be opened for maximum natural ventilation. State-of-the-art special purpose secure teleconferencing facilities, video-conferencing equipment and secure communications systems were incorporated during the build, ensuring faultless systems with seamless visual integration.

A large purpose civil construction training area was also built for army personnel to be trained in the use of earth moving equipment. Stringent environmental requirements were adhered to when building the sediment and detention basins and equipment wash down areas. A vehicle shelter and amenities block for use during training and exercises were also built, including a rainwater storage tank pumping system for truck filling and dust suppression.

The client increased the brief during the build due to the great relationship established throughout the works.
