Emma has been with PDQ for over 3 years now, starting as the Receptionist, and progressing through a diverse range of positions in the Administration & Accounts departments. Most recently, Emma has decided to pursue a career in Construction Management & will study part time at CQU. To support Emma with her studies, PDQ has offered her the position of a building cadet. Last Saturday the Paynter Dixon team threw their support behind the Salvation Army’s Red Shield Appeal at the Springfield & Bundamba Bunnings stores, working the BBQ’s to produce some delicious sausages!

Last week representatives of the Bindal traditional owners performed a private smoking ceremony on the NRL Cowboys House site. The smoking ceremony holds great cultural significance. The ceremony involves smouldering various native plants to produce smoke which is believed to have cleansing properties and the ability to ward off bad spirits. Having this ceremony conducted on this site prior to building will provide Indigenous families with a great level of comfort that their children.

Research conducted over the last 20 years indicates that a person’s sense of self supports their ability to act, even when they have dementia. The creation of an environment that assists a resident with dementia to make choices goes some way to meeting their unmet needs and any resulting agitation.

Stage One of our Dolphin Stadium is under way and builders Paynter Dixon have already achieved milestones at this early point in construction. We have our fingers crossed that the weather maintains its current level and allows us to get the stadium out of the ground.
